Mr. Okcular is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department. He joined the Firm in 2006 and focuses his practice on complex commercial, banking, bankruptcy and real estate litigation in addition to creditor workouts in state, federal and bankruptcy courts. Mr. Okcular has significant experience litigating issues related to breach of contracts, enforcement of mortgages and other security instruments, as well as recovery of funds and assets in both pre- and post-judgment contexts. He has successfully represented clients seeking recovery of collateral ranging from marine, aeronautical and automotive property in addition to the recovery of other tangible and intangible assets. Mr. Okcular also represents creditors in cases involving issues related to the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Truth in Lending Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act and has represented financial institutions and servicers related to a wide variety of mortgage loan issues.
Mr. Okcular’s practice also includes the prosecution and defense of malpractice claims in both court and arbitration proceedings. In addition, he represents institutions in cases arising from matters associated with trusts and estates, including litigation concerning claims of breach of fiduciary duty and lender liability as well as beneficiary disputes. Many of these cases concern banking operations and disputes over restricted bank accounts, securities and personal property in which our institutional clients may be involved in their capacities as fiduciaries. Mr. Okcular holds a Master in Business Administration in addition to his law degree, which provides him with a unique ability to handle complex disputes related to corporate practices and allows him to focus on the larger picture of his corporate client’s needs and goals.
Mr. Okcular is admitted to practice in Florida, the United States District Courts for the Sothern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern and Middle District of Florida. He received his Juris Doctor and Master in Business Administration from Stetson College of Law where he was also Chief Ambassador and member of the Execute Board for Professionalism and Leadership.
Mr. Okcular was born in Izmir, Turkey and was predominantly raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He currently resides in Coral Gables, Florida and is active in the South Florida legal community.
